Bill Andrews Dining Hall (5)
Director of the Environmental Education Grants Program for the California State Department of Education, Mr. Andrews will present the state’s ambitious “California Plan for Environmental Education.” In addition to presenting the plan, Mr. Andrews will also discuss how this plan came to be and the “next steps” to be taken.

Dana Tomlinson Dining Hall (5)
A teacher at Emory School in Imperial Beach, Ms. Tomlinson has been bringing her students to outdoor school for over ten years. She will present the group with insight from the classroom as to the very real and positive impact outdoor education programs have on her inner city students.

Abel Silvas Dining Hall (5)
Abel Silvas is a tribal council member of the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians and sits on the American Indian Advisory Committee to the Mayor's Office in San Diego. As a performing artist, Mr. Silvas uses his talents as a cultural bearer for his tribe to educate the public and school children on the history of his people. He was recently chosen as a finalist for the Four Directions/NBC Native American Comedian Talent Search in New York City in 2002 for his comedic character, "Running Grunion." He is an advanced student of the world famous pantomimist, Marcel Marceau and a Fullbright Scholar who has traveled to India and Veracruz, Mexico promoting education through the arts.

Rasheed Salahuddin Dining Hall (5)
Principal at Palomar Outdoor School, Mr. Salahuddin operates a residential race and human relations program. This program, operated by the San Diego Unified School District, utilizes environmental concepts as a way to teach community and human relations. Schools from throughout San Diego are purposely paired in a heterogeneous fashion as a way to have students learn from one another and embrace the diversity of their community. Mr. Salahuddin will discuss his program and the practical implications for all outdoor school programs.
