Theme

'Being Innovative in Our Changing World'

Our world is always changing around us. Technology creates opportunities for innovation in teaching and learning. The forces of globalisation affect our communities and environment in many positive and negative ways. Communication in our modern world is affected by new technology. These and other forces of North American culture create a need to be innovative to meet the demands of our changing world.

Sessions

It is a tradition at this annual conference that delegates take an active role as presenters. Consequently many of the sessions will involve round table discussions and interest groups from the issues the delegates see as priorities and will bring to the conference. Please indicate your areas of interest on the registration form. Some possibilities:

  • Administration Stream
    • earning funds vs. raising funds
    • volunteers (handicapped, service clubs, retirees, student exchange and volunteer programs)
    • facility design/ideas/retrofit/needs, wants desires, research, environmental impact, role modeling
    • where are the young people in our profession?
    • staff turnover
    • crisis management
  • Program Stream
    • matching curriculum to studies or studies to curriculum
    • multiculturalism at, by and for O.Ed.
    • research - studies, formal university research
    • program evaluation - do we really do anything with the evals?
    • getting to know you - social aspects of O.Ed.! - are we too fixed on the visible aspects of the curriculum?
    • environmentalism at O.School - an oxymoron?
    • use of technology in outdoor and environmental education

Who would benefit from attending this conference?
